Take the pledge to stop this attack on Australian workers: In February 2017, the Fair Work Commission announced cuts to penalty rates in the retail, hospitality and fast-food industries, including pharmacy workers. 700,000 Australians are facing an up-to-$6000 per year pay cut. That’s our children, neighbours, friends and families getting a pay cut they can’t afford and don’t deserve.
Nurses and midwives working in parts of the health and aged care sectors could also be at risk of losing their penalty rates and entitlements.
The decision to strip away Sunday and public holiday penalty rates, which comes comes at a time of record low wage growth, will be devastating for many households. This government is failing to protect Australian workers.
We resolve to do whatever it takes to stop this attack on Australian workers. We will campaign with other union members to stop this pay cut and protect penalty rates now and into the future.

A report commissioned by the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation (ANMF) found a public sector nurse or midwife would lose over $1900 per year if their Sunday penalty rates were reduced to Saturday rates.
