COVID-19 Member Assistance

The NSW Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) is providing support to nurses and midwives during the COVD-19 crisis.

Ensure you’re covered at work by joining the NSWNMA.

Members can login and access Frequently Asked Questions about COVID-19 related issues.

If you’re concerned your employer is not following COVID-19 guidelines, the NSWNMA can provide assistance to ensure appropriate measures are in place.

All new members joining during the COVID-19 pandemic will receive back dated support and services for issues specifically arising from the COVID-19 pandemic. Members wishing to access support and services for issues specifically arising from the COVID-19 pandemic will be required to pay one month’s fees prior to any service being provided.

Special Leave

Ongoing negotiations won NSW Health employees access to 20 days of special paid leave for COVID-19. We’re currently in discussions with multiple private sector and aged care employers around special leave; isolation strategies and frameworks similar to the public sector.

Members can access our FAQs on special paid leave here or contact our Information team for individual assistance and advice around access to leave during self-isolation.

Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)

Employers must provide PPE to nurses and midwives providing care for patients who have or are suspected to have COVID-19. The PPE must also be readily accessible.

If your employer is not providing you with the necessary PPE (or is making it very difficult to access), we can help.

Work Health and Safety

Your safety is our priority. We can conduct work health and safety inspections at workplaces and insist on improvements to protect you and your colleagues. If you’re worried about WHS at your work, let us know.
