“I have come to believe that caring for myself is not self-indulgent. Caring for myself is an act of survival” Audre Lorde (Stanny, 2012)
Nurses and midwives often start in these professions with dreams, ideas and hopes for the future. These dreams have the potential to give meaning and direction to our work and learning experiences and they influence how we engage in or professional career, our work environment and with our colleagues and patients. They also influence and effect every other area of our lives: our relationships, health and well-being, finances and recreation time.
Over the course of time, nurses and midwives are exposed to a wide range of challenges presenting themselves within the clinical settings, the health care system and society as a whole. In the midst of all these challenges it is easy to lose sight of the dreams and aspirations that brought us to the professions of nursing and midwifery.
This workshop is dynamic, fun and interactive with the primary goal of sustaining nurses and midwives and enabling them to not only survive but to thrive in the ever changing and challenging face of the current health system.
The workshop is facilitated by Andrea Brockbank, who has had over 30 years in the nursing profession, and has also studied, trained and is Certified in Coaching / Consulting with USA based Life Mastery Institute. She brings an understanding and passion for bringing practical, easy to implement skills to nurses and midwives who are seeking a fresh approach in this current climate.
