Gladesville Hospital/Riverglades reunion no. 4 BBQ

We would like you to come. If you are able to contact any other ex-Gladesville-ites who you would like to come, please invite them. We are holding this reunion in the forecourt (“The courtyard”- for those who remember) of Wd.18, GladesvilleHospital, in the shade of the Moreton Bay Fig tree. If it is raining, we will move into the Ward. There will be plenty of parking in the Hill Branch car park and to the left, the old cemetery, As usual, we will be supplying the food and soft drink and will have the BBQ sizzling. We would like you to pay $15 per person to help cover our costs. Please let us know how many are coming so we can cater for you. We will again start around midday and go to whenever. Each year, many of our senior ex-staff die or are no longer able to attend. We should make a special effort to come this year as our numbers are dwindling. We want to emphasize that all who worked at Gladesville are welcome; outdoor staff, artisan, domestic, medical and nursing. You will be able to drive or walk around the hospital during the day. I know each time I do, every part of it brings back many memories. It is with wry amusement, I think of how the Government demonised the “Dickensian” hospital, then, when they kicked us out, we nearly got trampled in the rush of Government agencies that all wanted to move to this fantastic place with its historic buildings, in a dream location.
