This 3-part series will look at the prevention and management of high-impact or high prevalence risks associated with the care of each consumer.

High impact and high prevalence risks are those that are most likely to injury to the consumer and risk our organisations and our registration as health professionals.

These sessions will look at the concept of “effective management” as well as reviewing causes, preventative practices and management of common risks identified by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission including:

– Hydration and Nutrition
– Choking
– Medication Safety
– Pain
– Pressure Injuries
– Restrictive practices
– Delirium
– Hearing loss

Whilst Falls are the highest rate of incidents and cause of injury, it is not included amongst the identified risks by the ACQSC, this will be included.

We will explore the relationship of these risks with the ever growing list of Quality Indicators where your facility’s performance is now available as public information as a component of the “Star rating” on the myagedcare website.

Friday 24 March

This series will be recorded and made available following to members of the NSWNMA in Member Central upon completion of the 3-part series. The recording of the series will then be available for viewing for a period of 4 weeks.
