In this presentation, we will explore the common psychosocial risks that face the NSW healthcare sector. We will discuss the impact on your own health and safety as workers as you undertake the sometimes challenging task of managing people in a health system that is under pressure. We will also unpack what you can do practically to help ensure psychosocial risks for your staff are minimised and hold those with power accountable to make meaningful changes. About our presenter – Dr Peta Miller: Dr Miller is a respected human factors professional with over 40 years of experience leading national and jurisdictional work health and safety (WHS) strategy, policy and practice, research and evidence translation. Of note for our audience, she led the development of the first Australian Code of Practice on Managing Psychosocial Hazards at Work for SWNSW in 2021 and the 2024 SafeWork NSW Work Design to Manage Psychosocial Risk Guide. She was the immediate past chair of the Action Against Violence in NSW Hospital. As someone who has worked in the health care system and with two sisters still working as nurses and midwives, she is passionate about making the health care sector healthier and safer. The Lead with Confidence online seminar series for nurse and midwife managers, a program designed to meet the needs of members of the NSWNMA who have a management role.
