Topics covered:

  • Skin integrity

Explore causative factors and preventive measures in improving our older peoples’ skin integrity. Improve your quality indicators for pressure injuries, Incontinence Associated Dermatitis, consumer experience and quality of life as well as preventing Serious Incidents through a multi team approach.

  • Nutrition and hydration

This session will explore health outcomes, challenges and strategies to improve the quality of life of older people focusing on food and drink. We will also explore what is known about the Revised Standard 6 to commence in July 2024.

  • Dysphasia and choking

This session will review the aetiology and pathophysiology of dysphasia and choking, preventative strategies, practice correct feeding and choking management. We will explore the impact of providing person driven care consistent with Standard 1- Consumer Dignity and Choice and somehow manage Standard 3(3)(b) – The effective management of high impact or high prevalence risks.
