Tribute to Filipino-Australian nurses in Australia

NSW Health Minister & Medical Research Minister, Jillian Skinner has accepted the invitation to be the keynote speaker of the event where Adhika Inc collaborates with the Philippine Health Care Association of Australia Inc./Philippine Nurses Association Australia (PHCAA/PNAA) to recognise the exemplary services of Filipino-Australian nurses in Australia in the past three decades. The other special guests at the event comprise UTS Director of Nursing Studies (UG) Ms Aileen Wylie
as inspirational speaker; Consul-General Anne Jalando-on Louis [also representing Ambassador Belen F. Anota]; Consul Marford Angeles and MP Kevin Conolly. The NSW Multicultural Health Service Manager Jess Helaratne & her staff will also be joining the celebration. Nominations for nurses who have performed exemplary services were invited from 28 January and will end February 27. Candidates can either self-nominate or be nominated by their colleague or employer. Awards will be adjudicated by a panel of judges from the nursing profession. As previously announced, the inaugural awards ceremony will be held on 23 March 2014 at Rooty Hill RSL Tivoli Room, 55 Sherbrooke St, Rooty Hill, Sydney during the bi-annual ADHIKA Gala Dinner. The ticket of $70 covers the entrance to the event, three course meal and entertainment showcasing the talents of the Sydney Sonata Singers, VIP Sydney Danzers, ballet dancer Rica Sey, and composer-singer Oliver Gadista and his band plus the cultural dancers from the Visayan Association & Mindanao ethnic dancers. A very special performer from Manila, Miguel Castro, an artist, a singer & composer will also grace the occasion. The event’s Production Team comprises of Albert Prias and Charles Chan of Flagcom.
