$118,304.00 – $159,349.00 per annum (commensurate with experience)

+ Superannuation + 5-week annual leave + 12 RDOs + Christmas shut down

The New South Wales Nurses and Midwives’ Association (NSWNMA) in association with the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Federation New South Wales Branch (ANMF NSW Branch) seeks a self-motivated Professional Officer (WHS) to join our Professional Services team on a permanent full-time basis.


In this role, you will undertake the following key responsibility:

  • To assist in the resolution of WHS issues and disputes affecting NSWNMA members
  • To provide advice on WHS matters affecting NSWNMA members
  • To undertake WHS inspections/investigations
  • To analyse and provide feedback/input on WHS policies and procedures
  • To support HSRs in their role in the workplace
  • To provide WHS information and education to NSWNMA staff and members
  • To recruit members to the NSWNMA / ANMF NSW Branch
  • To identify and support WHS related campaigning opportunities
  • To identify potential WHS issues of interest or concern to the members and the NSWNMA/ANMF NSW Branch and respond accordingly
  • To develop and review all WHS Association policies in a timely fashion
  • To actively represent the Association in a wide range of forums
  • To consult with members where necessary.


To be considered for this role you require:

Essential

  • Demonstrated skills and experience in dispute/issue resolution
  • Tertiary qualification in a work health and safety discipline or working towards or relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in the preparation of detailed submissions and report writing
  • Demonstrated experience in project management, policy development and broad research and analytical skills
  • A self motivated person who is able to work independently as well as in a team and is able to prioritise, meet deadlines and manage several issues simultaneously
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal
  • Ability to distill complex legislation and policies into concise and practical advice to members
  • A clear understanding and commitment to trade union principles
  • Well developed information technology skills with proven competence in the application of Microsoft Office
  • Compliance with COVID-19 vaccination requirements
Desirable
  • Knowledge and/or experience of nursing, midwifery and healthcare
  • Experience working for a trade union or active member involvement
