Library services – Library rules

Opening hours: 9am until 5pm, Monday to Friday, excluding public holidays.

Who may use the Library: Employees, members and associate members of the NSWNMA and other libraries.

Who may borrow from the Library: Employees, members and associate members of the Association may borrow at any time. There are some restrictions applied to others outside the Association.

Students, individuals and members of other organisations have reading privileges upon presentation of appropriate identification to the Library. Access to the collection is by appointment only and depends on availability of resources.

Members of the NSWNMA can access materials from the collection upon presentation of appropriate identification or membership number to the Library.

Who is responsible for loans: Employees and members of the Association are responsible for all loans registered against their Borrower’s ID or membership number.

Loan period: Three weeks for all material. Items from the reference and journal collection are not available for loan.

Renewals: Overdue material may not be renewed. Other material may be renewed only at the discretion of the Librarian.

Recalls: After the initial 24 hours, all loans are returnable on demand at the request of another member.

Borrowing restrictions: No further material may be borrowed until the overdue material is returned.

Inter-library loans: Material obtained for employees on inter-library loan must be used within the Association. Any fees charged by the lending Library are the responsibility of the requesting employee or member.

Resources not for loan: The library attempts to loan as many resources as possible, but certain items are not available for loan, although they may be viewed in the Library itself (by appointment) or online via a digital service provider.  These resources include:

  • Reference works such as directories and dictionaries
  • Loose-leaf services and digests
  • Journals
  • Special collections and electronic publications.
