The two-day workshop explores workplace issues faced by our Culturally and Linguistically Diverse members.

It looks at racism at work, introduces the NSWNMA branch structure and equips participants with both some collective and individual solutions to issues in the workplace.

Course Dates: Tuesday 30 September and Wednesday 1 October 2025, 8.30am registration for 9am start, 5pm close

  • Get to know our union
  • Branches, resolutions and democracy
  • The world as it is and the world as it should be
  • Power at work
  • Visas, activism, discrimination and the law
  • Mapping, recruitment and having powerful conversations (CALD affinity group)
  • Tackling racism at work – having a conversation around racism and bystander training.

If you live more than 50kms from Waterloo you may be eligible for travel and accommodation costs to be covered by the Association. The Association will book and pay for travel and accommodation where required (click here for more information).

Accessing leave to attend: Under the Public Health System (Cl. 54c(ii)) and Crown Employees Award (Cl. 55.1.2) access to trade union leave is available. Some Private Sector Agreements may contain similar entitlement. Private Sector and Aged Care Sector members who cannot access either trade union training leave, or other paid leave, and have to take unpaid leave may be financially reimbursed by the Association on application and completion of this workshop.
