Are you interested in climate change and how it affects your work? Ever thought about ‘greening’ your clinical environment but don’t know where to start? Wanted to kickstart a workplace sustainability project but didn’t get anywhere? Or maybe you’d like to form a team to suggest an initiative at work? How about advocating for climate action as a nurse and/or midwife outside of work?

Come to the NSWNMA’s Environmental Health Seminar Day! This year’s theme is ‘Sustainability: What can YOU do?’ and we want to empower you to use your voice and take action for sustainability!

Our speakers are nurses, midwives and mental health professionals who’ll share their own stories of trialling and implementing sustainability initiatives in their workplaces – as well as their learnings. You’ll learn not just what but also how to get involved.

You’ll hear about sustainability projects and how to do them:

  • Shaping Healthier Futures: Sustainability in Healthcare Projects
  • ICU Not Wasting
  • From Cribs to Conservation: Motivating Neonatal Nurses for a Greener Future
  • ‘Let’s Go Green’ – A Sustainable Futures Innovation Fund Project
  • Finding Our Safe Space: Infection Control and Environmental Sustainability
  • Reducing Aprons, Gloves and Gowns by Clinicians
  • Reducing Apron Use by ICU Visitors
  • Plastics in Health: The Battles we Can Win

You’ll also hear speakers talking about how they support nurses and midwives and sustainability, and what inspired them to get involved:

  • NSW Health Climate Change and Net Zero Unit
  • Climate Action Nurses and Australian College of Nursing Climate and Health Faculty
  • Climate and Health Alliance
  • ANMF

You’ll meet amazing service providers who’ll share their initiatives and how you can participate (at work and outside of it!):

  • RecycleSmart
  • Simply Cups

To end the day, there’s a hands-on workshop empowering you to use your voice for sustainability at work!
