Justice Health Custodial Health (Metropolitan) Graduate Nurse Program

  • February and April intakes
  • 12-month temporary full time
  • The Custodial Health Graduate Nurse Program provides a range of experiences health clinics located at various Correctional Centres within the metropolitan area of NSW – clinics include Long Bay Hospital, Metropolitan Reception and Remand Centre (MRRC), Dillwynia Women’s Correctional Centre, Emu Plains Correctional Centre (Women), Silverwater Women’s Correctional Centre, Cobham Adolescent Health Centre, Metropolitan Special Program Centre (MSPC)
  • The program will provide opportunities to provide specialised health care services in a unique environment for those that come in contact with the Criminal Justice System.
  • Provides a gateway to a unique and rewarding career with many opportunities for professional development and career advancement
  • A supportive environment that assists graduate nurses’ transition to the workplace and develop as safe and confident practitioners
  • A comprehensive orientation program
  • Core study days and mandatory training
  • Clinical rotations, dependent on the allocated facility
  • Access to reflective clinical supervision
  • Clinical support and education from Clinical Nurse Educators and experienced specialty clinicians
  • Allocated preceptors during each rotation
  • Opportunity to complete the University of Tasmania (UTAS) Clinical Honours

Justice Health Mental Health Graduate Nurse Program

  • February and April intakes
  • 12-month temporary full time
  • The Mental Health Graduate Nurse Program provides a range of experiences within the mental health units at the Forensic Hospital, Long Bay Hospital and Silverwater Mental Health Screening Units. These areas provide specialist care and treatment for mental health patients across the in-patient custodial and inpatient forensic mental health units, from acute mental health through to rehabilitation including services for men, women, and adolescents.
