Nursing GradStart

Preference Griffith Health Service (Inclusive of Community Services), Wagga Wagga Health Service (inclusive of Community Services and Mental Health), MLHD Rural Facilities (including multiple sites).

  • February and August intakes
  • 12-month program
  • Temporary full time and part time positions
  • 2 x 6-month rotations (GradStart RN) in Aged Care, Emergency Department, Acute Ward, Community Nursing, Medical nursing, Community Mental Health, Drug and Alcohol, Surgical, ICU, Operating Theatres, Paediatrics, maternity, renal, coronary care, geriatric medical nursing, orthopaedics, rehabilitation, stroke unit and mental health depending on the facility.
  • Rotations at Griffith Health Service, Wagga Wagga Health Service, Cootamundra Health Service, Deniliquin Health Service, Gundagai Multipurpose Service, West Wyalong Health Service, Batlow-Adelong Multipurpose Service, Young Health Service, Boorowa Multipurpose Service, Corowa Health Service, Culcairn Multipurpose Service, Henty Multipurpose Service, Holbrook Multipurpose Service, Junee Multipurpose Service, Lockhart Multipurpose Service, Murrumburrah Harden Health Service, Narrandera Health Service, Temora Health Service, Tocumwal Multipurpose Service, Tumbarumba Multipurpose service, Tumut Health Service.
  • MLHD aims to build a GradStart program around your preferences to support your active learning and professional development. In order to identify what clinical settings you would like to explore, MLHD will invite you to nominate your rural site and/or clinical preferences when you are invited to interview using Survey Monkey.
  • Orientation and supernumerary at commencement of rotations
  • Five paid face to face study days
  • Monthly virtual in-services by GradStart Clinical Nurse Educator
  • Ongoing clinical nurse educator support at each facility/ward/unit
  • Scholarship positions* at University Of Tasmania to complete Clinical Honours (Transition to Practice). Scholarship opportunities to the value of 100% exist for MLHD GradStart RN program participants
  • Offers Transition to Practice programs on completion of GradStart
