TIDE education is evidence based and teaches trauma-informed de-escalation techniques through the use of immersive VR simulation and AI experience.
TIDE was founded by nurse and educator Misty Carey and has been developed through collaborations with people dedicated to their communities, including First Nations, consumer representatives, and healthcare security.
Through theory and practical demonstration, course participants will:
- Look at the underlying social and physiological factors that contribute to trauma response
- Identify key principles for trauma-informed care
- Identify signs and symptoms of trauma and stress response
- Learn de-escalation techniques through a trauma-informed lens
- Develop confidence in identifying signs of escalation and safely preventing a crisis
- Explore best practice, trauma-informed debriefing
- Using virtual reality, practice trauma-informed de-escalation skills in a safe, low-risk learning environment
- Learn from clinical and healthcare security expertise together in the same training room
- This training applies to all healthcare workers who practise in areas where they may experience unpredictable situation.
